In addition, NSFAS announced that the list is part of a redress process for determining eligibility for funding based on third-party information. A third-party report is also being received before decisions are made on appeals.
An unprecedented number of applications were received for the 2023 academic year. The number of students applying for funding was approximately 1.6 million.
A total of 1.1 million students are currently funded by NSFAS. Having a large number of students receive tuition and allowances at the same time will be a first for NSFAS.
In addition to the above costs, allowances are provided for:
- Learning materials or devices
- Personal care
- Living expenses
